In June 2025, two agreements were signed in Italy to promote labour mobility and social inclusion for refugees.
On June 29, a new memorandum of understanding was signed to activate labour corridors for refugees. This initiative, made possible by Law 50/2023, allows selected refugees abroad to enter Italy through legal and regulated labour pathways. The programme focuses on individuals already qualified in specific professional sectors, combining selection with targeted training to support their integration into the Italian workforce.
Earlier, on June 19, a separate three-year agreement was signed by the Minister of Labour and Social Policies, the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Tourism, and the President of the National Bilateral Tourism Body. This protocol aims to provide vocational training and support the socio-professional integration of refugees, particularly in the tourism sector, which continues to face labour shortages.
Together, these agreements aim to a structured approach to managing refugee labour flows, linking humanitarian protection with employment opportunities and long-term integration.
