On June 4, Minister Roccella presented a briefing to the Council of Ministers regarding the approval, which took place on May 23, of the new National Plan Against Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance. The document, developed with the technical support of the National Office Against Racial Discrimination, is part of the European Union’s Action Plan Against Racism 2020–2025.
The text, which sets as its strategic objectives the prevention and combatting of discrimination based on race and ethnic origin, the elimination of inequalities, and the strengthening of social cohesion and national belonging, is structured around six priority areas of intervention:
- Communication and media
- Work and employment
- Housing
- Education, culture, and sports
- Health
- Security and justice
These are complemented by cross-cutting actions, including the training of public sector workers, awareness-raising campaigns, and the strengthening of local networks.
